AN INTRODUCTION TO THIS WEEKEND'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Sunday, March 24th
Today, and the next two Sundays, we celebrate special rites called the scrutinies.  The scrutinies give an opportunity for those who will be initiated into the Church on Easter to examine their consciences, repent for the weaknesses and failures, and pray for strength to orient their lives toward God.  But it is also an opportunity for all of us to do the same.  As we celebrate the first scrutiny this week, let us resolve to persevere on our spiritual journeys.
Sunday's Readings
Exodus 17:3-7
Psalm 95
Romans 5:1-2, 5-8
John 4:5-42 or
4:5-15, 19b-26, 39a, 40-42
